AcroMetrix recently announced a new product to help in the battle against Hepatitis: OptiQuant-S HCV RNA Quantification Panel
AcroMetrix is a company that leads the industry when it comes to providing products designed to assist diagnostic and blood testing laboratories. Their products and internet-based solutions for interpreting and managing results make it easier for labs to validate new assays, train laboratory technologists and set standards when creating notable quality control programs.
AcroMetrix recently announced a new product to help in the battle against Hepatitis: OptiQuant-S HCV RNA Quantification Panel. This new panel utilizes AcroMetrix’s very own SynTuraÔ technology, which gives laboratories a useful component to optimize the Hepatitis C molecular assays available in today’s market.
It’s commonly known that viral Hepatitis B and C account for more than 75% of all cases of liver disease in the world today. 1 HCV patients are routinely observed to detect changes in the amount of virus (viral load) present in their bodies while they’re undergoing therapy to treat the disease. Physicians rely on the accuracy of the viral load test results provided to them by the laboratories in order to make better informed decisions when it comes to drug therapies for the patient.
The SynTuraÔ Technology is a bid deal because it involves a second generation viral RNA material that acts similar to enveloped mammalian RNA viruses like HCV or HIV. The new technology facilitates synthetic sequences to be inserted into mammalian RNA virus that are shown to be stable in replication and able to form infectious RNase resistant virus particles. This proprietary system is useful in the designing of defined RNA positive controls, quantification standards, internal controls and calibrators.
Michael J. Eck, President and CEO of AcroMetrix recently said, “OptiQuant-S HCV represents our continued commitment to Hepatitis C diagnostic testing. Medical laboratories utilizing the new OptiQuant-S HCV Panel will experience the benefits of a standardized product that offers consistent results with an enhanced dynamic range; and as a result reducing patient re-testing requirements and increasing savings in both labor and reagent costs.”
